My thought for the day...And I resisted publishing it!

My thought for the day...And I resisted publishing it!

I am a seventyish woman who keeps her political views in a private place, but also, one who is sick of people (some are my so-called, friends) sending 'health-care' articles to me about the new Health Reform Act, when they have not bothered to educate themselves on the issues and take all the internet crap seriously, because it is the written 'word', so to speak! This apathy is contagious and literally demeans them, as regards intelligence...It is easier to listen to a cronie who doesn't know JACK about the issues, either, and they so willingly believe or follow to slaughter, if you will. Hitler was believed! Think about that for a moment...Go on...THINK ABOUT IT!

It only takes seconds to pass on a message of lies. Once again, some are too lazy to check the facts...they simply take someone elses word for it.
Will these rumours affect the outcome of Health Reform? Some, seem to think so.

Our government is not going to take over health care, so we end up with socialized medicine. That is not what the bill proposes. That rumour came from 'the other party' opponents. The bill simply provides insurance for those without employer insurance, at an affordable premium for all and will, in no way, interfere with employer benefits.

Private insurance will not become obsolete, but will allow individuals employed by small businesses to afford insurance for themselves and their families. This myth was generated by United Health Group, because they fear they might lose the gazillions of dollars generated through Medicare, currently. The bill asks for an exchange program that will allow all to have insurance and will be assisted with a list of providers that will fit their individual needs. This bill would subsidize people with insurance, only when the dollar amount exceeds 11% of their total income. In other words, catastrophic illnesses.

Euthanasia? Come on! Get serious! This lie was generated by Betsy McCaughey of New York. Mandatory counseling for seniors? NOPE! Medicare would be required to pay for counseling every five years to assist Seniors with living wills, appointing a health proxy and advice on hospice care for the terminally ill.

Will Medicare be eliminated? Certainly, not! Talk about political suicide. No politician is stupid enough to even think that! Dick Morris put this spin on the story to help strengthen the 'other party' line.

Rationed Care? NOPE! This lie was offered to the 'other party' by Frank Luntz, hoping it would give them the edge when compared to other countries with socialized medicine...In other words, tell them that politicians make your health care decisions...put the fear in the ear of the general public by telling them that this system can only fail, as it is dismal in other countries. The bill proposes that care cannot be denied on the basis of current or preexisting conditions and there will be no lifetime limits on coverage.

The mountainous myths, fear-mongering and misinformation can be checked by visiting this site:

Please do not share your biased opinions with me? Educate yourself. Read the bill, YOURSELF and visit the site, above. Then form your opinion and please, keep it to yourself?

Thanks for your ear. I wrote this article out of love for my country and pray for you to love it, too.

HUGS...
Andy
